Bolshoi Backstage

Posted on December 3, 2020December 3, 2020 by chris.brown

We have a cool rollout starting tonight on CBCFRONTBURNER featuring our story on Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet performing through the pandemic. We mingled with the ballerina’s in the front of the house and Corinne and Dima went backstage. Tough gig for them though. Zero way to social distance. More than 100 workers and dancers sick the day we were there, and its likely more now. Russians – and the Kremlin leadership – seems to feel closing such venues will be worse than the health costs of keeping them open. Maybe. But the result is that its turned the job of being a ballet dancer into a high-risk occupation.
