Back from a trip to the Baltics to file two David versus Goliath stories. Lithuania pokes China over Taiwan and takes a big hit on trade for it. And then, there’s the ongoing Russian build up of troops and equipment across the border in Belarus and in the enclave of Kaliningrad. Usually when we travel beyond our base, we hire some local help to get us over the finish line, and our local hire Benas came through big time with great interviews and access. The visit to the German-led NATO base near Kaunas was especially notable. Germany takes a lot of flak for not helping out as much as some would like. But the soldiers we spoke to were total pros.
